Juan, Muslims, NPR, and the ACLU

Juan Williams was fired by the NPR (National Public Radio), a left-wing organ partially  funded by your tax dollars,  for making remarks about Muslims on airplanes.  So, when is the ACLU coming to his defense?  Usually the ACLU looks for causes that protect the First amendment!  They are the lawyers for the Westboro Baptist Church, defending the church’s despicable behavior at a fallen soldier’s funeral.  But, they are nowhere to be found in the Williams affair!  So much for the ACLU being an organization that fights for the rights of liberal and conservative individuals and groups!  Their failure to get involved reinforces the belief of many that the ACLU is a pawn organization for the progressive left!

Juan stated what almost all non-Muslim people feel when they get on an airplane to find a fully, traditionally dressed Muslim.  Unless you just crawled out from a rock, you cannot avoid images of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers and Pentagon on 9/11/01!  I distinctly remember a trip from Mexico City in the summer of 2002 when a golf buddy  and I boarded the plane and there were two Muslim men in full dress.  I will never forget “Jim’s” comment: ” Those (expletive deleted) will never get past me to the cockpit!”

Juan expressed a perfectly natural sentiment; and has been fired for speaking his mind and telling an inconvenient truth!  Let’s not forget that the perpetrators of the 9/11 attack, the underwear bomber on Christmas day, the Times Square bomber, and the Foot Hood shooter were all Muslims.   Certainly, the wretched souls that carried out these acts were not typical of Muslims at large…..but, they were ALL Muslims!!

Political correctness has claimed another victim!  And, no one is talking about the 800 pound gorilla in the room! (Yeah, the one with the turban,  prayer mat,  and the muslim garb!)  The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) was founded to focus on litigation and communication efforts.  The ACLU’s stated mission is “to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States.”[1][3] It works through litigation, legislation, and community education.[1] Founded in 1920 by Crystal Eastman, Roger Baldwin and Walter Nelles,[4] the ACLU was the successor organization to the earlier National Civil Liberties Bureau founded during World War I.[5] The ACLU reported over 500,000 members in 2010.

So, has Juan committed an offense that the ACLU should get involved with?  If the ACLU truly believes in the Constitution, then the answer is “yes!”  Truth be known, NPR used Juan’s comments to retaliate against him for his long-term affiliation with Fox as a contributor!

P.S.  Don’t worry about Juan…he has reportedly signed a $2 million deal with FOX News so he can deliver his “fair & balanced” message!  That’s probably considerably more than he was making at NPR!!!  Frankly, I feel Juan is a schmuck……but that is not the point of this piece!

P.S.S.   In October 2010, NPR accepted a $1.8 million grant from George Soros, given through his Open Society Foundation. The grant is meant to begin a project called Impact of Government that is intended to add at least 100 journalists at NPR member radio stations in all 50 states over the next three years!  Guess how many of those journalists will be conservative?  Exactly…NONE!  This is part of Soros’ commitment to shut down political discourse that he and his socialist friends disagree with!

P.S.S.S.  Where is the NAACP?

One response to “Juan, Muslims, NPR, and the ACLU

  1. I found it interesting that the only people who came to Juan’s defense was the conservative base; the very people Juan disagrees with 99% of the time. It will be interesting to see if he still defends the liberal base with such vigor now that he knows they will only support you if you agree with them 100%, if not, they will destroy you. This is a prime example proving the liberal base no longer believes our country is a country where free speech is a guiding principle.
