ObamaCare and Accessibility – Stupak’s Legacy

The media news is reporting that doctors and hospitals are in the early stages of declining Medicaid patients because the soon-to-be-enacted federal guidelines would pay them, on average, 33% of what they would collect from a Medicare or private insurance carrier patient.  One of the little known facts in ObamaCare is the provision that the federal government will subsidize the individual states at a rate of 100% of Medicare rates for Medicaid patients……for only the first two years of ObamaCare!  After the first two years, the states are responsible for Medicaid expenses!  As a measure, currently, Mississippi allows 100% of Medicare for Medicaid patients…but, Mississippi has stringent qualification standards for Medicaid eligibility.  Today, New York pays 35% for Medicaid patients; and California pays 46%.  The bottom line is that ObamaCare, which was supposed to provide health care for everyone, will, if fact, disenfranchise the poorest and most needy of society!  Access will become more difficult each year until the poor will be left on the curb.  This another long-term negative impact of the Affordable Health Care (HR 3962).  Thanks, again, Bart Stupak, for surrendering your principles and yielding under the pressure of Obama and Pelosi!  Your constituents did the right thing by serving notice to your political career!  You, Bart, are the individual most responsible for the debacle that was sold to the American public!  This legislation MUST be repealed!  Vote GOP in 2012!  As Jane says, we were bamboozled by the snake oil salesman!!

  1. Prior to passage of the Obamacare bill, Pelosi famously said, “We have to pass the bill so we can know what is in it.” Over 2000 waivers later we know that Obamacare is a deeply flawed idea that is unpopular with most Americans.

Stupak may be the poster child for Obamacare but it is the entire Democrat congressional delegation that bears the repsonsibility for this ham handed attempt to fundamentally transform the best health care delivery system in the world.

The Democrats paid dearly at the polls in 2010 for their legislative arrogance. In 2012 Obama and his liberal allies will have to defend the indefensible once again. Lets make them pay again especially the campaigner-in-chief.

  2. Freddy, you are right. “The Democrats have fundamentally transformed the best health care delivery system in the world.” You could not have said it more accurately. As we move forward through the next few years, if Obamacare is not repealed and even if it is, God only knows what will happen at that time and what delivery system will be put into place: our medical treatment delivery system for all Americans will be inferior to what we have known in the past. A fundamental change is not always a wise way to make a change.

  3. Welcome back, Freddy! Your insightful comments have been missed! Sure hope you are right about 2012!
