Barney Frank, D-MA, has decided to hang it up after decades of pushing the progressive agenda in Washington. Frank was the co-author of the Dodd-Frank financial regulations bill that scuttled the career of Chris Dodd! Barney was also famous for his defense of Fannie and Freddie when it was obvious to most that the government backed mortgage securities firms were in deep trouble in 2006! Next year, Barney can pursue some of his personal objectives as the launches his retirement. Perhaps he will be the grand marshal of Boston’s Gay Pride Parade! Also, he can lobby for Fannie and Freddie and get paid legally for his consultations. But I am guessing he will spend lots of time with his pot-smoking significant other in the Bahamas slathering sun screen on each other’s wrinkled up bodies. UGH! Of course, he could also be the voice-over for Elmer Fudd cartoons!
Whatever he chooses, you can be sure that folks on Wall Street are cheering; and the GOP is trying to find a worthy candidate to take the House seat in 2012!
